"The Sunflower" is a tribute to the departed artist Vincent van Gogh and his brother Theo van Gogh. I wanted to tell the story from the lesser-known perspective of Theo, Vincent's biggest supporter and friend, who fell sick and passed away soon after the artist's death.
Theo was Vincent's younger brother, and one of the few that encouraged Vincent to follow his passion in art. He was a regular emotional (and financial) supporter of the artist, who during his life did not find much success in neither his career nor personal life.
Perhaps the story of Vincent van Gogh is most remembered as a tragic one. Despite this, I took comfort in knowing that he was loved, truly loved by someone. In fact, much of what we understand about the artist today is thanks to the collection of more than 650 letters that Theo received and kept from Vincent.

Sydney-based 3D artist and animator with a passion for hybrid 2D/3D aesthetics. I love experimenting with shaders and textures for these effects, and may be found messing with the shadergraph when no one's looking.
My aspiration is to transforms one of my conceptual ideas into an animation or game one day, with beautiful and unique aesthetics that will make anyone stop to look at. That, and to watch anime without subtitles.
